A Dhaka court on Monday awarded death sentence to younger brother Kabirul Islam for killing his elder brother Khairul Islam alias Kajal in 2009.
Judge ABM Ruhul Amin of the 4th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka
pronounced the verdict on Monday in absence of the convict. The court also fined him Tk one lakh.
Brief case story says, on April 27, 2009, Kabirul Islam shot his elder brother Kajal to death at the seventh floor of a building in Bijoynagar area of the city. Later, the victim’s brother-in-law Imran Hossain filed a case with Paltan Police Station.
The police arrested Kabirul Islam on May 20 of the same year and later the charge sheet of the case was submitted to the court against the accused on July 31. Later, the court framed charge against him on November 15 of the year and the trial begun. The accused had also made confessional statement admitting the fact.
On March 11, 2010, the accused Kabirul secured bail from the court and went into hiding.
