A mother of a six-month-old minor baby was stabbed to death in Dhaka’s Dhamrai upazila on Monday. Victim identified as Fatema Akhter ,22, was killed by her husband Md Tamim Miah ,25, at Hatkora village of the upazila. Nirmol Kumar Dash, Inspector (operation) of Dhamrai Police Station confirmed the matter to the media saying that they recovered the body and arrested Tamim.
According to locals, accused Tamim was a drug addicted who brought his wife and baby back to his house in the village from his in-law’s home around noon.
When Tamim stabbed his wife Fatema to death with a sharp weapon, neighbours caught him red-handed while he was trying to flee.
Police found multiple injury marks in the deceased’s body including her neck, the police official added.
“Primarily, we are suspecting that Tamim killed his wife over a family dispute, but details will be known after interrogation of the accused,” he said.
The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy. A case is being filed over the incident, Inspector said.
