Man slaughtered in city

Staff Reporter :A gang of unidentified assailants slaughtered a man at a house in the capital’s Gandaria area on Sunday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Sunny Sarker, 45, an inhabitant of Alamganj Lane, Milbarak area, police said. Gandaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaheed Alam said that a man along with his associates entered the house of Sunny around 1:00pm. They stabbed him (Sunny) indiscriminately and also slaughtered the victim with a sharp sword before fleeing the spot. The victims’ relatives recovered Sunny and rushed him to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead around 2:00pm, the police official said. “It is not clear who slaughtered Sunny and what is the motive behind the killing,” the OC said. Police are investigating the incident and trying to arrest the killers, the police official said. A case had been filed in this connection, the OC said. DMCH Police Outpost’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Sentu Chandra Das said that the body had been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
