A man was shot to death by rivals over land related dispute in Baghbari area of the city on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohibur Rahman, 55, son of Abdul Latif, a resident of the area.
Locals said Abdul Latif had long been at loggerheads with Pakhi Sohel of the area over the ownership of a piece of land.
As a sequel to their enmity, supporters of Sohel fired gunshot at Latif and his son Mohibur in the area on Sunday night, leaving the duo critically injured.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College.
The doctors referred Mahibur to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment, but he died on his way to Dhaka around 12am.
