Man sentenced to death for killing headmaster in Netrakona

A Netrakona court here on Thursday sentenced a person to death by hanging for murdering Arjun Biswas ,45, Headmaster Monash Government Primary School at Barhatta Upazila in Netrakona district in 2015.
 District and session judge court sources here said the District and Session Judge Netrakona KM Rasheduzzaman Raja delivered the judgment in his crowded court room here in presence of the convicted person.
The convicted person was identified as Kalachan, 44, of village choigaon under the Barhatta upazila of the district.
The judge also acquitted three accused of the case as the charge brought against them was not proved. Those who acquitted were identified as Emdadul Haque, Fuad Khan and MD Bhashani.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that Arjun Biswas was the headmaster of Monash government primary school in the Barhatta upazila. On the day of December 2, 2015, Arjun Biswas was hacked to death by the convicted Kalachan at the village Choigaon area where he reached by riding on a motorcycle with his colleague Shafia Sultana Sumi for going to his school.
After the killing incident, his wife namely Maya Rani Biswas filed a murder case with Barhatta police station against our persons including the convicted Kalachan.
Police after investigation of the case submitted charge sheet before the court against the four persons on January 31, 2016.
Later, the learned judge after examining the witnesses and evidences found the Kalachan guilty beyond any doubt and handed down the capital punishment.
Public prosecutor Adv Saiful alam Pradip appeared on behalf of the prosecution when Adv Manobendra Biswas Uzzal stood for the accused, the court sources added.
