A man has been sentenced to death and fined Tk 50,000 for killing his elderly sister in Jashore on Monday. The convict was Abdur Rahim 56 son of late Enayet Ali Moral of Bijoyrampur village in Manirampur upazila of Jashore.
Additional District and Sessions Judge MA Hamid pronounced the verdict at noon on Monday (March 8).
Following the verdict, the judge ordered the accused Abdur Rahim to be sent to jail.
Government lawyer Bimal Kumar Roy said Abdur Rahim and his sister Nurjahan Begum, 62, had been fighting for a long time over the land dispute.
On the morning of 19 February 2019, Nurjahan Begum 62went to Abdur Rahim’s house with her husband to talk about land.
At one stage of the conversation, Abdur Rahim hit Nurjahan Begum on the head with a sharp weapon. She was seriously injured.
