Staff Reporter :
A few days after the marriage, a man named Yusuf smuggled his wife and sister-in-law to India and sold them in brothel. According to CID sources, Yusuf is involved with international women trafficking gang.
Law and order forces have already arrested four people including the mastermind of this women trafficking ring.
The arrested were identified as
Rana Ahmed, Md. Suman Mia, Md. Sahabuddin and Naimur Rahman alias Sagar.
On Tuesday night (August 9) separate raids were conducted in Jhenaidah and Chuadanga districts and they were arrested.
Nazrul Islam, Special Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Human Trafficking Prevention Unit of CID, told this information in a press conference organized at the CID office on Wednesday afternoon.
In the statement, the two sisters said that about two years ago they worked in a factory in Sreepur of Gazipur. At that time, Yusuf developed a love relationship with his elder sister, and later got married.
Yusuf sold them to women traffickers in India last year with the promise of high-paying jobs.
They did not realize that Yusuf was involved with the trafficking of women.
Special Superintendent of Police Nazrul Islam said that Yusuf smuggled his wife and sister-in-law to India through the Baghadanga border of Maheshpur in Jhenaidah on May 4 last year. There Yusuf’s accomplices sold them in prostitution. After trafficking, those two sisters from Gafargaon, Mymensingh were victims of terrible sexual abuse.
Later, they managed to escape from the brothel and returned to the country on March 22 this year with the help of the Indian police.
Returning home, their father filed a case and gave a statement in the court.
Based on that information, the police arrested Yusuf earlier. Nazrul Islam said that several cases against the newly arrested four are under investigation.
The process of collecting information on domestic and foreign members of this circle is also continuing. We are interrogating them. Everyone involved with this gang will be brought under the law, CID officials added.
