The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Tuesday placed one Jibon Kumar alias Babu on a five-day remand in a case filed for stalking and beatings two twin college girls in Mirpur area of the city.
Magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the order after Sub-Inspector Anup Kumar Sarkar of Shah Ali Police Station, who is also the Investigation Officer of the case produced the accused to the court with a seven-day remand plea. After hearing, the court granted a five-day remand, rejecting the bail petition.
On October 19, several suspected stalkers beat up the two sisters with a bamboo stick near Dhaka Zoo for protesting stalking. Some local businessmen identified Babu, who happens to be the proprietor of a fast food shop in the area.
The victim 16-year old sisters are HSC students at local BCIC College, they came under attack while returning home from the college on the day.
