A young man went missing as a private car plunged into the Dhaleshwari River breaking the railing of Muktarpur Birdge in Sadar upazila on Friday night. The missing young man was identified as Jalal Uddin Bhuiyan Rumi, 20,
 son of Saifuddin Rauf, a resident of Amlapara in Narayanganj city.
M Mosharraf Hossian, in-charge of Muktarpur River Police Camp, said Rumi went to Muktarpur Bridge in the night by a car. Reaching the bridge, Rumi dispatched driver Rubel from the car and started to drive the car himself. At one stage, as he lost control over the steering, the vehicle fell into the river breaking the railing of the bridge.
On information, divers from Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) rushed to the spot and detected the car in the riverbed, about 60 feet under the surface. However, they could not recover the car due to strong current in the river till the filing of this report at 10:50am.
