A young man was beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief in Sabujbagh area of the capital. The deceased has been identified as Ridoy, 27. The incident occurred on Thursday night.
Quoting locals, Anwar Hossain, Sub-Inspector of Sabujbag Police Station confirmed the news to the media saying that a young man was beaten by an angry mob in the area around 3:30am suspecting him as a thief, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College
Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead, the SI said. Trying to discover the details of the deceased, the body has been kept at DMCH morgue for autops, SI added.
