A man suspected to be dacoit has been beaten to death in Vendapara area of Kolshidigi par under Bandar thana in the city on Saturday. Police recovered the body of one Babul Akter, 40, son of late Abdur Rashid, hailed from the aforesaid area.
A group of thieves were stolen stationary shop of Bappi in the area last night. Suspecting involvement with the incident, locals caught Babul from his residence at 7 am yesterday morning, said Mainul Islam, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar thana. At one stage of interrogation, locals beat the man to death on the spot.
Police sent the body to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy. A case was filed against some unidentified persons with Bandar thana in this connection.
