A pregnant woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband over extra-marital affairs in the city’s Khilgaon area early Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Mahmuda Akhter Munni, 26, an eight-month pregnant woman, mother of two children.
Police arrested the accused on charge of committing murder. The arrested man identified as Saiful Al Mamun, 35 is a garment worker in Narayanganj, Police said.
Quoting the deceased relatives, Kazi Mainul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khilgaon Police Station, said, “There was a long-standing dispute between the spouses relating to an extra-marital affair of Mamun.
On the fateful night, the quarrel reached its height and Mamun clubbed her wife mercilessly. Severely injured Munni was rushed to Square Hospitals in the capital where she breathed her last at 6:30 am of Friday.”
They got married nine years ago. Mamun’s unethical affair came to light two years ago and the family hired a house at Khilgaon of Dhaka, the Police official said. We have arrested the killer, the OC said, and a case has been filed.
