A father-in-law was hacked to death and four others were injured allgedly by his son-in-law over a family dispute in Madhabpur upazila of the district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Kamal Mia, 47.
Police said the fatal incident took place last night at Ratonpur village of the upazila when son-in-law Shaju Mia visited the house of his father-in-law.
Police also said that Shaju Mia injured his wife Nurjahan, mother-in-law Sahera Khatun and two others at that time.
The injured people were sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.
