A man was killed over a land related dispute at Kaitkona village of Chhatok upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Amin, 27, son of Riyad Ali of the village.
Police quoting local people said UK expatriate Komor Uddin and his followers Angur Miah and Kamal Hossain of the village had been at loggerheads with union parishad member Tofail Ahmed and his followers for long over the ownership of a piece of land at the villagers.
As a sequel to the enmity, the supporters of Komor attacked the associates of Tofail in the village around 8pm and stabbed Nurul and Basit indiscriminately with knives, leaving Nurul dead on the spot.
Critically injured, Basit was admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.On information, police visited the spot.
