Man killed in Sylhet clash over land

A man was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over previous enmity at Satpur Khasjan village in Bishwanath upazila on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Rafiq Miah,55, son of late Abdul Matlib of the village.
Officer-in-charge of Bishwanath Police Station Rafiqul Hossain said there had been a long-standing enmity between Rafiq Miah group and Rais Uddin group over the ownership of a piece of land in the village.
As a sequel to the enmity, both the groups locked into an altercation following the issue in the evening, leaving 11 people including Rafiq injured.
Of the injured, Rafiq was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where attending doctors declared him dead at about 8:00 pm.
Police arrested three people including a woman-Rais Miah,65, and Yunus Ali,60, and his wife Nebarunnesa,40,–on suspicion of the clash.
A case was filed in this connection.
