A man was killed and 30 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups over fishing in a water body in Sadar (South) upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Tafazzul Hossain,45, son of Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Paikapan village of the upazila.
Quoting locals, police said an altercation took place between the two groups of Paikapan and Asampur villages over fishing in a haor (water body) at Jamtala village in the afternoon.
Later, both the groups, equipped with lethal weapons, swooped on each other.
At one stage, a villager of Asampur village opened fire on men of Paikapan.
