A man was killed and ten others were injured during a clash between two rival groups over a land-related dispute at Kalikapur village in Madhabpur upazila on Saturday evening.
The deceased was identified as Zia Uddin Zeru, 55.
Quoting locals, police said two groups–one led by Zia and the other by Saiful Islam had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land.
Following the issue, supporters of the two groups equipped with home-made weapons locked into a clash in the evening, leaving 11 people including Zia injured.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The injured were rushed to Madhabpur Health Complex where doctors declared Zia dead.
Police also arrested Swapan Miah from the hospital in this connection.
Molla Monir Hossain, officer in-charge of Madhabpur Police Station confirmed the incident.
There also had taken place a murder incident in 2010 over the issue, the OC said.
