UNB, Gaibandha :
A man was killed and eight others injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over harvesting paddy from a disputed land at Paroil village in Gobindaganj upazila on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Majibor Rahman of the village.
Jahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Police Station, said Azgar Ali and Amir Ali had been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land.
As a sequel to the enmity, an altercation ensued between the men of both of them as Amir Ali along with his supporters was going to the disputed land for harvesting paddy.
At one stage, supporters of both the groups engaged in a serious clash that left Majibor killed on the spot and eight others injured.
The injured were rushed to local health complex.
