An elderly man was killed in a clash over land at Khasrabon Paschimpara in Parbatipur upazila on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, 72, a resident of the area.
Police said there was longstanding enmity between Nurul Islam and Ansar Ali over the ownership of a piece of land in the area.
As a sequel to the enmity, they locked into an altercation in the morning over building a house on the disputed land.
At one stage, supporters of Ansar Ali attacked Nurul’s men around 9am, triggering a fierce clash between the two rival groups that left Nurul dead on the spot and four others injured.
On information, police recovered the body. Mammudul Alam, officer-in-charge of Parbatipur police station, confirmed the incident.
