UNB, Dhaka :
A woman allegedly hacked her husband to death following a dispute over his second marriage in the city’s Kalyanpur area early Wednesday.
However, the incident came to light on Wednesday night after the victim’s wife known as Laboni, 26, informed it to Mirpur police station admitting her involvement in the killing.
Later a team of police from Mirpur thana went to a flat on the 2nd floor of a 6-storey building at house-14/B of Road No-3 at Kalyanpur at about 8:00 pm on Wednesday night and recovered the body of
Salahuddin, 30, a chicken trader of Kalyanpur Bazar.
Contacted, Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam of Mirpur police station said Salahuddin had an altercation with his wife and her relatives on their flat on Tuesday midnight as she came to know several days back that he had married another woman six years back.
At one stage, Salahuddin was hacked to death and his body kept hidden inside the chest of drawers, SI Rafique said.
“Although victim’s wife Laboni admitted that she killed her husband alone during an altercation over the issue at about 2:00 am on Wednesday, we suspect that more people were involved in the killing,” the SI added.
Laboni is now in custody and she will be taken on police remand for interrogation, he said further.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
