An elder brother was allegedly beaten to death by his younger brother in Bager kanda Bagmara area in Mymensingh Sadar Upazila on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Lal Mia (60), son of a late freedom fighter. The alleged murderer Rafiqul and his brother in law Anando went on hiding.
The wife of the victim filed a murder case with Kotwali Model Thana on Friday afternoon.
Locals and police sources said that Lal Mia’s father was a freedom fighter who died about 15 years ago. Lal Mia made all arrangements to enjoy freedom fighter’s
allowances of his father. The dispute with his younger brother Rafiqul began over sharing the allowance.
In this connection, Rafiq and his brother-in-law Anando beat Lal Mia mercilessly in front of their house.
Lal Mia was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. The following day he was released from the hospital. But on Thursday, Lal Mia died at his residence in the night.
The police sent the body to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy on Friday morning.
Kotwali Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Operation) Khandakar Shaker Ahmed told that the operation was being carried out to arrest those involved in the killing.
