A Chittagong court on Tuesday sentenced a man to 17 years’ imprisonment in an arms case filed in 2003.
Chittagong Divisional Judge Mir Ruhul Amin pronounced the verdict after testifying four witnesses, said court sources.
The convict — Md Shahin of Amirabad area in Lohagara upazila in Chittagong — is now absconding. Public Prosecutor Mejbah Uddin said Shahin was arrested with a locally-made gun, a pipe-gun and two cartridges on August 23 in 2003.
Later, an arms case was filed in this connection.
