A tribunal here on Tuesday convicted a man and sentenced him for seven years’ rigorous imprisonment for beating his wife in 2015.
The convict was identified as Sohrab Hossain, 45, a resident of Mohonganj village in Baghmara upazila. The tribunal also fined him Tk 25,000. The tribunal also ordered him to deposit Tk 15, 000 of the Tk 25,000 fine to the victim and rest Tk 10,000 to state treasury. According to the prosecution, the convict severely beats his wife Jhorna Bibi, 40, on January 312015, after she rejected to give him Tk 2 lakhs as dowry.
