Customs officials arrested a man along with four gold bars and a gold chain weighing 500 grams at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Tuesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Mazharul Islam of Comilla district.
Mainul Khan, director general of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate, said Mazharul came from Kuala Lumpur by flight MH112 at around 9:30pm.
On suspicion, the customs officials challenged him while passing through
the green channel and found the gold bars inside his waist belt after searching his body. Later, they arrested Mazharul and seized the gold bars and chain worth Tk 25 lakh. Mazharul travelled ten times this year, said Mainul Khan.
