Man held with explosives in C’nawabganj

A team of Rapid Action Battalion-5 recovered eight cocktails, eight machetes and a bag of explosives from under a depot of paddy stalks in a mango orchard at Ganka village under Chapainawabganj Municipality on Thursday afternoon.
RAB also arrested a suspect identified as Tareq, 21, son of Abdul Barek, resident of Alinagar slum, Chapainawabganj town.
A team of bomb disposal unit of RAB-5 from Rajshahi exploded the bag
of powerful explosives in a ditch of the same orchard at 10-45 am on Friday.
Commanding Officer of RAB-5 Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Alam in a briefing after the explosion said, after detecting the cocktails and explosives, a team of RAB cordoned off the whole area last night and recovered cocktails, machetes and explosives. As the explosives were sewed in a bag, it was very risky to open and that is why the bomb disposal unit exploded it in presence of the media men, he added.
He further added that a gang of terrorists might have stored the explosives to conduct destructive activities, but it might not be certain until investigation.
This is to be mentioned that a girl child identified as Alo Khatun, 6, daughter of Ali Hossain from Ganka village was injured in a blast of a cocktail on Thursday at 9-30 am as she was playing with it finding it in an abandoned condition. After that RAB raided in the area.
