The Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a man with two firearms and 20 bullets at Jatrabari in the city in the wee hours of Thursday.
The arrested man has been identified as Abul Khair Tuhin and he is an illegal arms peddler, police said.
In a press conference at Dhaka Metropolitan Police headquarters on Thursday, DB Deputy Commissioner (South) Mashruqur Rahman Khaled said the pistols recovered from Tuhin were of foreign made.
“During interrogation, Tuhin admitted that he along with some accomplices had long been peddling firearms in Dhaka and adjacent districts.”
A case was filed against him with the Jatrabarhi Police Station.
