Customs intelligence officials arrested a man along with 20 gold bars and some gold ornaments weighing about 2.350 kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Thursday.
The arrestee was identified as Abdul Qader, 50, hailing from Keraniganj upazila in Dhaka district.
Tipped off, customs intelligence officials challenged Qader at the boarding bridge-2 area around 2:45pm after he arrived here from Riyadh by a flight of SV800, sources at the Customs Intelligence said.
Searching Qader, the customs officials recovered 20 gold bars, four gold chains and two ear rings worth Tk 1.15 crore, which was kept hidden in his handbag.
