Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held a man along with 2kgs gold bars from Chechra border in Pachbibi upazila while he was trying to smuggle the gold to India on Saturday afternoon.
The detainee was identified as Noor Alom, 32, son of late Abdur Rashid of Rambhadrapur village under Bagjana union of the upazila.
On secret information, BGB men raided the border near pillar no 4 around 3pm and held one Noor Alom with the gold worth TK 7.7 million, when others of the gang managed to flee, said Lt. Col. Rashed Md. Anisul Haque, captain of Joypurhat Border Guard-20.
A case was filed with Pachbibi Police Station, showing Noor Alom arrested, said the captain.
