Customs officials seized gold weighing 2.1 kg at Hazrat Shahjala International Airport and detained a man in this connection on Wednesday.
The detainee was identified as Sheikh Mohammad Mainuddin,29. He arrived here from Malaysia by a flight of Malaysian Airlines around 11:35 am.
Assistant Commissioner Customs Ruhul Amin said when Mainuddin was crossing the green channel customs officials challenged him and recovered the gold from his sock after searching his body.
