Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport seized gold sticks weighing about 1.395 kg and detained a passenger on Friday.
Sources at the airport said Md Emadul Helal Khan landed at the airport by an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah on Thursday noon.
But one of his luggage remained in Sharjah airport due to unavoidable reasons. He left the airport on Thursday without taking the luggage. Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House SM Sohel Rahman said Emadul came to the airport on Friday morning to collect his luggage which arrived yesterday. When he was coming out of the customs lounge along with the luggage around 12:30 pm, customs officials challenged him and found the presence of suspicious objects after scanning his luggage, Sohel said.
