Customs intelligence officials arrested a man along with 16 gold bars weighing ten tolas each at Shah Amanat International Airport on Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Jahangir Alam, son of Abdur Rahim of Satkania in Chittagong.
Umme Nahida, assistant director of Customs intelligence and investigation directorate, said the customs officials challenged Jahangir Alam while crossing the green channel around 11:30 am after he arrived here by a flight of Air Arabia from RAK, Dubai.
After searching, the customs officials recovered 16 gold bars from his shoes.
The market value of the seized gold is Tk90 lakh.
