Man held with 15 gold bars at HSIA

Customs officials detained a man and recovered 15 gold bars weighing about two kilograms worth around Tk 70 lakh at Hazrat Shahjalal Internatinal Airport (HSIA) on Thursday morning.
He was identified as Mohammad Mannan from Comilla, Customs official said.
Mannan came to Dhaka from Dubai via Oman by a Biman flight at 11:00am.
When he passed through immigration and picked up his luggage, he was stopped by customs officials for a search,” said Customs Intelligence Division Director General Moinul Khan.
During the search, the gold bars were found hidden under the trolley tray in a unique way, the Customs official said.
Mannan worked as a driver in Dubai, said Moinul Khan.
Legal proceedings will be started against him under the Customs Act and the Special Powers Act, he said.
