Custom intelligence officials detained a person with a ‘DJI Phantom-4 Model’ drone weighing 14kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Tuesday night.
The arrested man has been identified as Jahidul Islam, 40, from Kushtia, Customs officials said.
Customs Intelligence Director General Moinul Khan said: “Acting on a tip-off, we searched the passenger’s luggage and recovered the drone. He had earlier denied carrying it.”
He told us, one of his friends from Dubai had given it to him and asked him to deliver it to someone here,” the DG said.
The 14kg drone can be used for shooting videos as well as spying, the Customs official said. The drone is capable of carrying one kg of weight and travel at a speed of 72km per hour.
