Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has arrested a man from Banasree area in the city for threatening to blow up the Australian High Commission in Dhaka.
Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman said a CTTC team arrested Tausif Hosen Shimanto, a freelance photojournalist, around 5pm on Thursday.
In an email sent to the Australian High Commission on April 25, Tausif demanded Tk 5 lakh, threatening to blow up the mission with bomb if his demand went unheeded, he said.
He also sent a similar message to Jaago Foundation the following day.
