A man was detained by Phulbari upazila police for capturing a porn video of a college girl and uploading it into internet, but released him after 12 hours of his detention on Saturday (8th August) as the offense solved at the police station, said a well informed source.
The detained man Mehdi Hasan, 30, son of Safiqul Islam of Chawkchawa Madhyapara area under Phulbari Municipality.
Police arrested him on Saturday (8th August)on basis of complaint from victim’s family.
The college going girl said Mehdi Hasan built up a relationship with her. He lured her to marriage, better jobs in Dhaka. Finally few months ago Mehdi took her to Dhaka to help her to be modeling.
Taking her in Dhaka the Medhi confined her in ranted house captured her naked video clips using Smartphone in the name of modeling, which later uploaded in the net. Recently her family members found the naked video clips on internet. On Friday (7th August), her family members filed a complaint to Phulari upazila police. Same day police detained Mehdi Hasan from his residence.
As the detention news of Mehdi started spreading in Phulbari town, some local influential started gathering at Phulbari police station to maintain lobby to release him. Several talks were held between the victim’s family the lobbyists.
Everything was held at Phulbari police station.
At the final meeting it was decided to pay 1.7 lakh taka giving a condition that the girl has to be sent to her grandparents home. It couldn’t be confirmed that the vicitm’s family received the money or not.
Ward Councilor Ataur Rahman who also received a complaint from the victim girl and was present at Phulbari police station from begiing to release the accused, said Mehdi was a married man while the victim girl is still single. Considering the future of the girl the meeting fined a big amount to be paid to victim.
Mostaque Ahmed Officer- In- Charge of Phulbari police station said the family members of the victim filed a complaint but later declined to resister it for which they released the detained Mahdi Hasan.
He was unaware of monetary fine, said the OC.
But locals said the accused can be produced to mobile court, but the OC did not do it.
