UNB, Meherpur :
Police arrested a man from Juginda village in Gangni upazila on Tuesday in connection with a case for ‘violating’ a young girl for over five years.
The arrestee was identified as Mafizul Islam, owner of a brick kiln and son of Shahajat Ali of the upazila.
Obaidur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Police Station, said the victim filed the case against Mafizul on Tuesday night.
According to the case statement, the victim’s father worked at the brick kiln owned by Mafizul.
Mafizul used to go to the victim’s house and developed a physical relation with her since 2014 with a promise to marry her.
In the meantime, the girl distanced herself from Mafizul as he failed to keep his promise.
On February 6 last, Mafizul went to the victim’s house and violated her again. He also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
Later, the girl approached police and filed the case.
