A man was allegedly dipped his wife to death at their pond at Dhunat village in Udaipur union of Kalai upazila in Joypurhat on Monday night. Police have arrested accused Chadek Ali in the incident.
The deceased was identified as Bilkis Banu, wife of Sadek Ali. The victim’s elder brother filed a murder case on Tuesday morning.
According to case details, there had long-standing quarrel between the husband and wife. Due to this, Sadek Ali planned to kill his wife on Monday night. At one point while walking on the bank of the pond outside the house, Sadek killed Bilkis Banu by dipping in the pond and fled. The family members started searching as the two did not return even at midnight. At one stage, they found Bilkis Banu floating in the pond. Upon receiving the news, the police recovered the body. Later, with the help of information technology, Sadek Ali was arrested from a distance of one kilometer from the spot.
Kalai Police Station OC Selim Malik said the victim’s brother had filed a case in connection with the murder. Sadek Ali has been arrested in that case. He pleaded guilty to murder during preliminary interrogation. Necessary steps will be taken subject to investigation.
