Police arrested man for killing his stepson at Senbhag village in Puthia upazila on Tuesday midnight.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Ali, a resident of Ekdala in Natore district.
Shakil Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Puthia Police Station, said Mohammad Ali converted to Muslim from Hindu seven years back and got married to a divorced woman named Bulbuli along with her seven-year-old son Rifat.
Ali took the boy to Senbagh saying that he would buy him a watermelon on Monday and killed him after slitting his throat.
He returned Natore alone and told Bulbuli that Rifat was killed in a road accident. On suspicion, Bulbuli went to the spot and recovered Rifat’s throat-slit body.
