Man held for Facebook post over writer Mushtaq

Police have arrested a man in Khulna metropolitan area on Friday night, after he made a Facebook post over the custodial death of Writer Mushtaq Ahmed.
He was identified as Ruhul Amin, local coordinator of Sramik-Krishak-Chhatra Oikya Parishad and a resident of Khalishpur of the city.
Kazi Mushtak Ahmed, officer in-charge of Khalishpur Police Station, confirmed the matter, saying he was arrested under the Digital Security Act.
The arrestee shared some posts of deceased writer Mushtaq and captioned, “If all these writings become the reason behind Mushtaq’s imprisonment, then he has been killed in prison after denial of bails for six times, then arrest me too.”
The OC said detectives of Khulna Metropolitan Police arrested him and later filed a case under the Digital Security Act.
Niaz Morshed, an organiser of the Parishad, was also arrested at the same time, but was freed later.
The incident triggered a massive protest in the city on Saturday. Leaders and activists of the platform brought out a procession around 11 am and marched across different roads of the city.
