A man was hacked to death by the rival people of Chakmaiya group at Mochni Rohingya camp of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ilias, 40, son of one late Nasir Ahmed of B Block of Mochnig camp. He was also an active member of Salman Shah group in the camp.
Mohammad Rubel, the son of the deceased, said, “On Sunday morning, members of the Chakmaiya group came to the house of B-block and looted various goods including money and gold. Later, on the way back, he found his father and beat him mercilessly. When taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared the father dead.
Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Hafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday evening.
