AL factional clash: Man hacked, houses vandalised

A man was hacked and several houses were vandalised during a clash between two groups of ruling Awami League (AL) over establishing supremacy at CGS Colony in Agrabadh in Chittagong on Tuesday.
Both factions are supporters of Chittagong City Corporation mayor AJM Nasir Uddin.
The hacked man was identified as Md Jamshed, 24.
Witnesses said a faction backed by pro-AL local ward councillor HM Sohel and another group backed by suspended leader of AL’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Saiful Alam Limon locked into the clash Tuesday afternoon.
The ruling party activists also exchanged gunshots during the clash.
The attackers cut two tin-roofed houses with sharp weapons and ransacked another house in the area.
Badamtali intersection of the port city turned into a battle ground during the clash.
Double Mooring police station officer-in-charge Bashir Ahmed Khan said the situation is now under control.
