A Barishal court on Wednesday sentenced accused Shariful Islam alias Morsalin ,26, of Ramarpul under Muladi upazila of the district to life term imprisonment and fined Tk. 1.0 lakh or to suffer more three years imprisonment in default for violating a physically and mentally challenged teenage girl.
Abu Shamim Azad, Judge of “Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Daman (Women and Children Repression Prevention) Tribunal” Barishal handed down this life term imprisonment verdict in presence of the accused after examining seven witnesses.
Advocate Faizul Huq Fayez, special prosecutor of the tribunal, acknowledging the fact, said Morsalin taking the chance of vacant house after her mother went to visit relatives entered inside the kitchen of her house and violated her on April 26, 2016.
Victim’s mother filed a rape case against Shariful Islam alias Morsalin on April 27, 2016 with Muladi police station.
After investigation Sub Inspector Shahidul Islam, submitted charge sheet against the accused on July 10, 2016.
The court also ordered to pay the fined amount to the victim within next three months or government collecting the amount by seizing the properties of the accused will pay that to the victim in default.
