A court here yesterdaysentenced a man to death and his mother to life term imprisonment for killing a man 11 years ago.
The condemned convict is Humayun Kabir while the lifer is Shamsunnahar, a resident of Chandanish area in the city.
According to the prosecution, Munir Ahmed, an employee of Agrabad branch Rupali Bank and a resident of Chandanish area, was hacked to death by the convicts over land dispute on June 10, 2005.
Tanvir Ibne Munir, son of the victim, filed a case with Chandanish Police Station.
Police submitted a chargesheet against the two people on April 18, 2006.
After examining the records and 11 witnesses, Chittagong Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Rabiuzzaman Kabir handed down the verdict.
