A court here Wednesday sentenced a man to death in a drug case in Gangaprasad village of Akkelpur upazila of the district in 2021.
The court also fined him Taka 20,000, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Golam Sarwar delivered the verdict Wednesday.
The convicted was identified as Nazmul Hossain, 25 son of Yusuf Ali Mondal of Chanradal village of Badalgachi upazila in Naogaon district.
According to the prosecution, Nazmul was arrested by members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) along with 54.70 grams of heroin from Gangaprasad village in the upazila on January 19, 2021.
A case was filed with Akkelpur Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act accusing Nazmul.
Later, the police station sub-inspector Rayhan Ali submitted a charge-sheet against the accused to the court.
After examining witnesses, the court found him guilty and handed down the punishment.
Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Nripendranath Mondal Additional District and Sessions Judge Court confirmed the matter.
