Police have recovered the body of a man accused several cases in Cox’s Bazar and believed to have been shot dead by his rivals.
Sadar police OC Md Aslam Hossain said the body of fugitive Md Ismail, 26, was found at the town’s Jail Gate area early on Friday. He said the locals informed police. They confirmed the identity of the dead after the body was recovered. “There was a bullet wound on the chest,” OC Hossain said, adding that Ismail was a known mugger in Cox’s Bazar. “He had several cases against him involving murder, mugging, and kidnapping charges lodged at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station.” “It’s possible that Ismail was killed by his rivals,” said Hossain.
The body was later sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
