A 62-year-old man was killed in a stampede occurred during distribution of VGF (vulnerable group feeding) rice among poor in Fulpur municipality of Mymensingh Saturday (August 3).
He was identified as Hafiz uddin.
Six others sustained injuries. They were rushed to hospitals.
Locals said police charged batons at a crowd during allocation of the rice as rice-seekers broke off a gate of a local degree college ground.
Hafiz and six others were injured in the stampede. He died after being taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).
However, Fulpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) denied of any baton charge.
