UNB, Chandpur :
A young man was killed and four others injured as a boat capsized in Dakatia River near Mukherjee Ghat in Chandpur Sadar uapzila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Mujibur Rahman Gazi, 37, of Purba Sreemadi village in Sadar upazila.
Witnesses said, a sand-laden cargo vessel hit the
boat carrying five people including Mujibur Rahman from behind while they were enjoying a pleasure trip around 7 am.
All but Mujibur managed to swim ashore. On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and conducted a salvage operation. Later in the midnight, the divers recovered the body from the river.
