A man walking on the rail tracks at Sholashahar in the Port City was crushed to death afternoon under the wheels of a train on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Shahin Alam, 42, son of Nizam Sarkar of Hili Land Port area in Dinajpur dist35rict.
The accident occurred around 2.30pm when a train hit Shahin while he was walking along the rail tracks-a risky venture that far too many Bangladeshis seem to take on a daily basis without fully appreciating the risk factor.
To make matters worse, according to Sub-inspector Jakir Hossain of Government Railway Police (GRP) Station in Chittagong, Shahin was busy talking on his mobile phone when the accident took place – another common factor when such deaths ae
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the SI added.
