UNB, Gazipur :A man killed his wife first and then himself by stabbing at Safipur in Kaliakoir upazila on Saturday night. The couple was identified as Raihan Hossain,38, son of Aftab Hossain, a resident of Chilapara village in Nababganj upazila of Dinajpur district, and his wife Halima Begum,30, worker of Mahmud Denims Limited.Police and locals said Raihan and Halima used to live in a rented house at Safipur Purbapara in Kaliakoir upazila. The couple locked into an altercation over a family feud on Thursday.As a sequel to the altercation, Raihan stabbed his wife Halima indiscriminately with a sharp weapon when she was returning home from her workplace at about 10:30 pm.As people rushed in to save her, Raihan stabbed himself in the abdomen with the same knife. Later, locals rushed them to Safipur General Hospital where attending doctors pronounced them dead.Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College morgue for autopsy. Officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir Police Station Motaleb Miah confirmed the incident.
