A man, in his twenties, was reportedly beaten to death by a group of tea garden workers in Habiganj on early Wednesday.
Local people said Nalua Tea Garden workers at Chunarughat caught and beat the victim to death at about 4:00am suspecting him a cattle lifter.
Chunarughat police officer-in-charge Ajmiruzzaman confirmed the incident and said they recovered the victim’s body from the spot in the morning and sent it to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital for postmortem examination.
‘The victim could not be identified so far,’ the police officer said in the afternoon, adding that a case of unwanted death was recorded in this regard.
